For the first time in 10 years, Chick-fil-A is getting a new sauce, and it is a spicy take on the one the chain is best known for. Spicy Chick-fil-A Sauce will be available at restaurants nationwide starting November 16.

It keeps the smoky, tangy, and slightly sweet flavor of the original Chick-fil-A Sauce while adding heat from a mix of peppers. Unlike many fast food releases, this isn’t a limited-time item; the sauce is being added to the menu permanently.

The original sauce has been around since 2006, when it joined Honey Mustard, Barbecue, and Polynesian on the menu. Sweet & Spicy Sriracha followed in 2016 and was the last new sauce the chain introduced until now.

With the spicy version, Chick-fil-A will have eight core dipping sauces (the chain currently lists seven primary ones, though Honey Roasted BBQ is sometimes included as an eighth).

Customers will be able to get the new sauce in dipping cups with any meal or order of fries. Chick-fil-A is also selling it in eight-ounce bottles at the drive-thru and through catering orders.

The nationwide launch is a little unusual for Chick-fil-A, which tends to test new items in select markets before rolling them out everywhere. Spicy Chick-n-Strips, for example, have been in testing without a national release date, yet the new sauce is skipping that stage entirely.

The chain is also generally slow to change its menu. It didn’t introduce a variation of its Original Chicken Sandwich until the Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich in 2023, and Chicken & Waffles only recently became its first breakfast-inspired item available all day.
