Chick-fil-A is giving students another reason to look forward to Tuesdays this fall, with a weekly deal that can put a free chicken sandwich or dessert on their tray. But there’s an important catch: Not every Chick-fil-A location is participating. If you’re a student near the right restaurant, here’s how you can take advantage of the deal and what you’ll need to bring to claim your freebie.
Chick-fil-A’s Student Nights offer runs through December
Chick-fil-A is making Tuesdays a little more appealing for students with its limited-time Student Nights promotion. Customers who qualify can purchase a meal at the participating restaurant and receive either a free Original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich or a dessert.
The offer is available every Tuesday from September 1 through December 22, giving students several months to take advantage of the weekly promotion. However, the deal is only available during a specific window, so timing will be important for anyone hoping to claim the free food.
When and where to get the deal
Student Nights run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET every Tuesday at Chick-fil-A Edison Towne Square in New Jersey. Students must show a valid school ID to receive the offer.
There’s also an important limitation to keep in mind: The promotion is exclusive to the Edison Towne Square location. That means students visiting other Chick-fil-A restaurants should not expect to receive the same deal.
For those who live, study or spend time near the participating restaurant, the promotion could turn an ordinary Tuesday meal into an opportunity to get something extra without paying for it.

Chick-fil-A has offered other creative freebies
The student promotion isn’t the only time a Chick-fil-A location has used a free treat to encourage a particular behavior. In another example, a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Towson, Maryland, has offered diners a free Icedream cone through a phone-free dining challenge.
Known as the Cell Phone Coop Challenge, the promotion asks customers to put their phones into a designated box during their meal. If everyone at the table keeps their phones put away until the meal is finished, each person can receive a free Icedream cone.
The concept was previously introduced by Georgia franchisee Brad Williams in 2016. Williams said he came up with the idea after seeing a woman focused on her phone throughout an entire meal while her children sat across from her.
A simple reward for putting the phone away
The challenge is straightforward. Diners ask an employee for the coop, place their phones inside with the devices set to silent, and leave them there while they eat. Once the meal is over, everyone at the table can receive a free cone.
Williams brought the idea back earlier this year at two of his Georgia locations, although employees at those restaurants later indicated that the promotion was no longer running.
The phone-free concept has also appeared at other Chick-fil-A restaurants over the years, although it is not clear how many locations have participated. Chick-fil-A has not indicated that the challenge is part of a companywide initiative, suggesting that promotions like this can vary between individual franchise locations.
For students near Edison Towne Square, however, the current Student Nights promotion offers a much simpler way to score free food: Show up on Tuesday evening, bring a valid school ID and purchase a qualifying meal.
