Quesito El Establo recalls Spanish cheese over potential Salmonella risk

Following recent recalls of several cheese brands due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination, Quesito El Establo has also issued a voluntary recall of its Spanish Cheese (Quesito Colombiano).

The New Hampshire-based dairy producer recalled approximately 800 pounds of cheese after an FDA inspection uncovered unsanitary manufacturing conditions, including rodent activity, which could lead to contamination with Salmonella and other pathogens.

The affected cheese is packaged in approximately 1-pound units, wrapped in plastic and placed in Ziploc bags, labeled with a blue sticker featuring a cow and the text “Quesito Colombiano,” and stamped with expiration dates of August 22, 2025, or earlier.

Distributed to Hispanic/Latino retail stores in Massachusetts, the product was sold prior to the recall. While no illnesses have been reported, consumers are advised not to consume the cheese and to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

For questions or assistance, Quesito El Establo can be reached at 617-842-0513, Monday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST.
