About a month ago, TCL introduced its first-ever line of smartphones to be released in the US, the TCL Series 10, which includes the TCL 10 Pro and TCL 10L. And now, the company has announced that the budget-friendly phones will be available to purchase next week.
The phones builds on TCL’s knowledge of manufacturing premium TVs and touch panels. Using the company’s proprietary display technology, TCL NXTVISION powered phones in the TCL Series 10 are able to produce true-to-life color, clarity, and contrast enhancements in real-time. This tech also allows real-time conversion of video from SDR to HDR with no third-party software.
The TCL 10 Pro will house a TCL-built 6.47-inch Full HD+ curved AMOLED display with a matte black finish for the back. Having a curved display means that the phone not only has smaller bezels but provides a better, more natural, in-hand feel. Underneath the screen lies the on-display fingerprint sensor and the entire panel is protected by an anti-glare screen. Additionally, the TCL 10 Pro is one of a few handfuls of phones that are Netflix-certified to stream HDR10 videos.
It will carry a quad-camera system that consists of a 64MP main, low-light video camera, super wide-angle, and a macro lens. Around the front is a 24MP front-facing camera.
Alongside the release of the TCL 10 Pro will be the even more affordable TCL 10L. Housing a slightly larger 6.53-inch Full HD+ Dotch display, it also supports NXTVISION for true color accuracy and real-time enhancements. Despite not being curved, the TCL 10L still boasts of a high screen-to-body ratio of 91%, meaning bezels should be minimal. Internally, it’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 655 that’s supported by 6GB of RAM as well as AI technology that allows for greater performance with lower power consumption.
For cameras, the TCL 10L also houses a quad-camera system on the rear that’s similar to its more premium sibling. Around the front, situated in the Dotch, is a 16MP front-facing camera for selfies. As with the TCL 10 Pro, the TCL 10L also supports AI enhancements for its cameras.
The TCL 10L will be available in a holographic finish with an iridescent design and 3D backing. It will come in Mariana Blue and will be priced for just $249.99 on Amazon starting May 19th.
The TCL 10 Pro, featuring a classic matte back, will come in Ember Gray and will retail for $449.99 on Amazon, also on May 19th.
Both phones will also be available at Best Buy and Walmart later in the month. They are also expected to be available in Canada this summer.
