Warner Bros. Pictures has dropped the official Barbie movie trailer, and while it doesn’t really give away any significant plot details, the teaser unveils never-before-seen shots and scenes that are sure to excite fans around the world.

The almost two-minute trailer opens with an aerial view of Barbie Land, a seemingly plastic town where all Barbies and Kens live. The trailer then sees Margot Robbie’s Barbie, the film’s main character, go to the beach where she greets some of her fellow Barbies and a couple of Kens. We also see her driving around in her pink car and meeting Will Ferrell’s character, a toy company CEO.
The Barbie movie trailer also reveals the real score between Robbie’s Barbie and Ryan Gosling’s Ken. In one scene, Gosling’s Ken says that he and Robbie’s Barbie are boyfriend-girlfriends. Elsewhere in the trailer, we see a beach riot, what appears to be a sorority meeting, as well as a dance showdown and a “beach-off” between Gosling’s Ken and Simu Liu’s Ken.
In the latter part of the trailer, we see Robbie’s Barbie heading out to the real world in her pink car, only to be surprised by Gosling’s Ken who decides to tag along.
The April 4th release of the movie’s official trailer comes three months after the film’s first teaser trailer came out in December 2022. What is Barbie 2023 movie about?
While plot details about the film are scarce, a previously released synopsis for the movie reads, “After being expelled from Barbie Land for being a less-than-perfect doll, Barbie sets off for the human world to find true happiness.”
Based on the Barbie doll brand by Mattel, the movie is directed by Greta Gerwig from a script co-written by her and her longtime collaborator and partner Noah Baumbach. Although both filmmakers are best known for their indie movies such as 2017’s Lady Bird, 2015’s Mistress America, and 2012’s Frances Ha, both Gosling and Liu have praised the script for Barbie movie.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in July 2022, Gosling said that it’s the “best script” he’s ever read. Liu, meanwhile, called the Barbie movie “wild” and “incredibly unique” in an interview with GQ in May of that year.
Is Dua Lipa in Barbie?
Yes, Dua Lipa is in Barbie. Her casting was confirmed on April 4th, the same day the official trailer was released. Like most of the female cast members in the film, Lipa will play a version of Barbie.
