Ever catch yourself standing at a fast-food drive-thru or staring at a pricey lunch menu, knowing deep down you are about to regret your choice? Subway is betting that voice in your head sounds a lot like actor Will Arnett. In a bold new move to win back hungry diners tired of overpriced, unsatisfying meals, the sandwich giant has brought in the comedic powerhouse to star as America’s collective “SUBconscious.” With Arnett playing different versions of that voice, Subway is taking a playful new approach to reminding customers what it believes makes its food worth choosing.

Getting inside the customer’s head

Rather than pitching another limited-time discount or fancy menu item, Subway’s latest strategy zeroes in on a feeling most fast-food diners know all too well: lunchtime regret. Enter “Feed Your SUBconscious,” a sweeping new brand platform designed to steer consumers away from overpriced bowls or greasy, heavy drive-thru meals and back toward customizable, fresh options.

The campaign hinges on a universal instinct — that inner whisper urging you to make a cleaner, smarter, and more satisfying meal choice. For more than six decades, Subway has built its name on freshly baked bread, sliced meats, and crisp vegetables. Now, the chain is giving that internal voice a personality to remind people that better options have been within reach all along.

Five faces, one Irreverent message

To bring this concept to life, Subway enlisted the comedy of Will Arnett. In the campaign’s flagship 60-second anthem, Arnett transforms into five distinct characters, each popping up in everyday dining scenarios like smoothie counters and burger lines. Each character delivers a mix of sharp humor and comedic tough love to help consumers break out of their usual fast-food habits.

Subway’s leadership believes this relatable angle will resonate deeply with tired, budget-conscious consumers.

“Most advertising tries to convince people of something. This campaign begins with something they already know,” said Jeff Klein, Chief Marketing Officer at Subway. “They know when they’re settling for a meal they do not really want and when lunch is about to become an afternoon regret. ‘Feed Your SUBconscious’ gives that instinct a voice, with Will Arnett reminding people that Subway offers satisfying, freshly prepared food, made exactly how they want it, with value that makes the choice even easier.”

Arnett brings the tough love

Arnett’s signature gravelly delivery and comedic timing give the campaign its memorable edge. Whether calling out overpriced trendy drinks or heavy burgers that leave you craving an afternoon nap, his characters aim to be as entertaining as they are persuasive.

“If you know what’s good for you, you’ll listen to me, because I AM you!” Arnett said. “We don’t need to settle for a nap on a sesame seed bun or pay ridiculous prices for pond water. Let’s remember how much we crave delicious, affordable food that keeps us going … and go to Subway.”

A nationwide push for convenience and value

The new brand platform isn’t just limited to traditional TV spots. Subway plans to roll out Arnett’s characters across streaming platforms, digital and social media, audio ads, and directly inside restaurants nationwide.

By pairing comedic entertainment with everyday convenience — supported by thousands of U.S. locations, expanded operating hours, and third-party delivery options — the sandwich chain hopes to make listening to your “SUBconscious” the easiest, most rewarding decision of your day.
