Sprint is offering free phone service for all of 2019. Here's the catch 1

You may remember, Sprint started off 2018 with a bang by offering customers of competing carriers unlimited service for free. Now the telecom giant is back with a similar offer to bring in 2019.

The carrier says anyone with a phone activated on Verizon, T-Mobile, or AT&T can switch to Sprint to get unlimited data, voice, and text for a year.

Normally priced at $60 per month, Sprint promises those who switch unlimited 4G data, video streaming, and gaming.

However, once we dug into the fine print we saw that the plan is limited to unlimited 480p streaming – and some subscribers at this tier may even experience “deprioritized” during periods of high volume.

And (surprise!) of course there’s there’s another catch. Initially, signees will have to pay $42.99 to purchase, activate, and ship a new SIM card. In addition, Sprint charges monthly ‘admin’ and ‘regulatory’ fees to keep each line active. In all, you’ll be paying about $3 – $4 per line every month.

With all of that said, this is still quite the steal!

According to the company, this offer is open to U.S residents with a compatible phone on a competing service, meaning existing Sprint customers aren’t eligible.
