Sonos Roam portable wi-fi speaker leaks ahead of launch

This will be Sonos’ cheapest and smallest portable speaker offering so far

Sonos Roam leaks ahead of launch

It seems that Sonos’ newest offering has leaked just a couple of days before its launch event. Sonos had previously announced that it will be announcing new products on March 9th. However, the company didn’t state what products it would be releasing exactly but photos of a new portable speaker called, Sonos Roam, have made their way onto the internet.

As reported on The Verge, the new Sonos Roam will be the company’s smallest portable speaker. Currently, Sonos only has a single offering in the portable speaker category – the Sonos Move. Sonos Roam will reportedly be much smaller – measuring about six and a half inches in length and two and a half inches for width and height. It will also reportedly weigh about a pound and will come with a USB charging cable. Wireless charging is also an option but the wireless charging dock will be sold separately.

The Sonos Roam will reportedly function similarly to the Move. Apart from being a Bluetooth speaker, it will also be able to play over wi-fi and connect to a Sonos system. There are also built-in mics for voice commands and it’s also compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and AirPlay 2. Additionally, linking two Sonos Roam devices can be stereo paired when using Wi-Fi.

Photos of the Sonos Roam show that it comes in either black or white. Its battery life is also reported to have up to 10 hours of life on a full charge. Being a portable speaker, it also holds some protective tech such as being fully waterproof.

Sonos Roam is expected to start shipping around April 20th and is priced at just $169. This makes it one of the more affordable devices Sonos is offering. The wireless charging dock will be sold separately for $49.
