Sonos has launched a premium subscription plan, Sonos Radio HD, for its streaming radio service, Sonos Radio. The company officially launched its free service earlier this year which offered over 60,000 stations, original programming, and internet radio services. This new premium tier offers an ad-free, high-definition experience for just $7.99 a month.
Sonos Radio HD will also offer more exclusive content that can be directly accessed in the Sonos app. Delivered in “lossless, CD-quality” audio, some of the exclusive stations available for this paid tier include Sonos Radio HD artist-curated stations with Dolly Parton’s Songteller Radio being the first to be available.
Sonos Radio HD also debuts Soundtracks for home, a station dedicated to supplying background music for everyday tasks like cooking or working. There are also six sleep stations that offer different ambient noises like white noise, pink noise, and rainforest sounds to provide a calm and peaceful atmosphere for sleeping.
With the intro of Sonos Radio HD, the company is also updating its free tier by offering new holiday-themed content to help bring in the season. Two new holiday stations and a special radio show by Dolly Parton, Holly Dolly Christmas Special, will be added. Regional stations such as British Beats and Bars, UK Session Sounds, and more will also be available. Lastly, the company’s ad-free station, Sonos Sound System, will offer new collaborations with Beverly Glenn-Copeland, Erykah Badu, and more artists for its weekly Radio Hour.
