About Fantasia

The third Disney animated feature film, Fantasia consists of eight animated segments set to pieces of classical music. First released as a theatrical roadshow between 1940 and 1941, the movie failed to make a profit due to World War II’s cutting off distribution to the European market, among many other reasons.

But because of its favorable reviews from critics, the movie has been reissued multiple times since 1942, becoming the 23rd highest-grossing film of all time in the United States. The Fantasia franchise has since grown to include video games, Disneyland attractions, and a live concert series.
