These on-ear gym headphones promise not to fall off while working out

Under Armour has created headphones that use the same material as their clothing for athletes

When it comes to on-ear headphones for the gym, the struggle is real. Most on-ear headphones will fall off of your head while you’re working out, which is why most work-out centric headphones are designed to be ear-buds, or they use some sort of hook or twisty cable to keep them secure. But Under Armour’s new Sport Wireless Train on-ear headphones aim to change all of that.

These on-ear headphones were created in partnership with JBL, and like UnderArmour, JBL knows a thing or two about working out. To that effect, these headphones are described as “training-proof”. Not only are they more secure than typical on-ear gym headphones, but they are also ready for sweat and everything else that comes with a vigorous work-out.

To start, the headphones feature a compression-fit headband that helps keep them secure on your head, even while exercising. The ear cushions are made with Under Armour’s proprietary SuperVent technology, which is the same kind of breathable fabric that Under Armour uses for clothing made for athletes. The headband liner and outer ear cushions also use UA materials. In addition to being sweat-proof, these materials help create a secure grip on your head, even while you’re sweating. And of course, the headphones are designed to be rugged and durable enough to handle wear and tear from rigorous workouts and being shlepped around.

These Sport Wireless Train headphones also come with TalkThru Technology which lets you easily switch to a call by touching the TalkThru button. But perhaps their neatest feature is Speed Charge Battery which lets you get an hour worth of playback time from just five minutes of charging. When the headphones are fully charged, they will last for up to 16 hours of playback time, which is quite respectable.

The headphones are also foldable and they come with a protective hard shell case.

First Impressions

On the audio front, these headphones sound well tuned for work-out music. We’re talking about DJ-style, beat-heavy, heart-pumping music, but they aren’t particularly bass-heavy.

Pricing

The UA Sport Wireless Train headphones will be available for pre-sale starting on July 24th at JBL.com and they’ll be available in stores starting in early August. They will retail for $200.
