LEGO Education today unveiled two brand new architecture-themed sets for the 2019-2020 FIRST LEGO League Season. Titled BOOMTOWN BUILD and CITY SHAPER, the programs this season will help over 320,000 students from across the globe develop teamwork and STEAM skills through project-based LEGO challenges.
Kids in the 6 to 10 age group will tackle the BOOMTOWN BUILD challenge. Using the Inspire and WeDo 2.0 education set, the goal is to “imagine and create a building that can accommodate different users.”
Older kids will be tasked with building and coding an autonomous MINDSTORMS robot “to perform a series of architecture-themed missions on a playing field.” The challenge is dubbed CITY SHAPER and will be the first to allow participants to use elements from LEGO’s newly unveiled SPIKE Prime set.
Committed to STEAM education, LEGO Education says this season will be the most classroom-friendly yet, with FIRST Class Packs providing educators the curriculum and resources needed to support up to 30 pupils.
