Lego Education is expanding its current Lego Learning System with the addition of Lego Education SPIKE Essential. This program is designed for primary school students and it promotes literacy, math, and social-emotional development through story-driven learning and problem-solving.
Building on the foundations of STEAM learning, the SPIKE Essential kit contains 7 to 8 lessons alongside more than 30 minutes worth of language arts and math extensions for each lesson. There are about 6-10 hours of content in each kit that can be used by up to two students at a time.
The design is scalable and made with personalized professional development resources from Lego, SPIKE Essential can easily be implemented in different scenarios. Combined with non-tech Lego Education BricQ Motion solutions, the learning system equips students with future-proof skills.
Lessons presented come in approachable and fun themes like Great Adventures, Amazing Amusement Park, Happy Traveler, Crazy Carnival Games, and Quirky Creations. Four new Minifigures are included with different and relatable characteristics and personalities. These are designed to engage students in STEAM learning while enabling them to develop social-emotional skills. The challenges are very much age-appropriate with word-based block coding combined with simple hardware. Some of which include an intelligent Hub, motors, Light Matrix, and more.
The Lego Education SPIKE Essential kit costs $274.95 per set and includes 449 Lego bricks with replacement elements. It comes in a sturdy storage box with color-coded trays for easy organization.
Lego Education SPIKE is part of the company’s own learning system which includes Lego Education SPIKE Prime, Lego Education BricQ Motion Essential, and Lego Education BricQ Motion Prime.
