With a large and loyal fanbase, League has become one of the biggest games around with gamers from both the PC and mobile world. Now, LoL is set to traverse a new territory – TV. Netflix has announced that the long-awaited League of Legends animated series will soon by coming to the streaming platform and will be titled Arcane.
The show was already announced back in 2019 during the 10th-anniversary celebration of the franchise but production was delayed due to the pandemic. In a past blog post, Riot expressed the issues they’ve been going through saying that development and production has been hard “especially in a world where you can’t see your coworkers IRL.”
Apart from a possible Fall release date, there aren’t much more details about the show. We did get a teaser trailer that briefly showcased popular League characters like rivals Jinx and Vi but that’s about it. As previously announced, the series will have developer Riot Games working with animation company Fortiche Productions who have done work on the Rocket & Groot miniseries for Marvel.
Interestingly, Arcane adds to the handful of adaptations Netflix already has under its belt including The Witcher, Castlevania, and even League rival franchise, Dota.
