iQOO has unveiled the iQOO 12, a flagship device with a distinctive tri-color strip pattern inspired by the BMW M Motorsport. For those who aren’t familiar with the smartphone brand, IQOO is a subsidiary of Vivo.
The iQOO 12 features a 6.78-inch AMOLED LTPO Display with 1.5K resolution, supporting a 144Hz refresh rate, blue light eye protection, and boasting 105% color gamut and 100% DCI-P3 accuracy ratings for high color precision.
iQOO has introduced four distinctive features with a focus on enhancing the gaming experience on the iQOO 12. The first, named “Game Super Resolution,” enhances screen contrast and clarity, sharpening the visibility of in-game characters.
The second feature, “Super Frame Rate,” employs frame interpolation to elevate games peaking between 60 FPS to 120 FPS, to 144Hz, aligning with the device’s maximum refresh rate. iQOO highlights its compatibility with popular mobile games like Genshin Impact, PUBG Mobile, PUBG New State, and League of Legends Mobile.
The third feature, “General Filters,” was briefly touched upon, with an example of a dark-scene enhancement filter improving gameplay by aiding gamers in identifying opponents in darker scenes or environments.
Lastly, the “Game Super Touch Control” feature enhances accuracy and touch response during gameplay, mitigating errors and slips that might impact the gaming experience.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor provides the crucial performance capabilities required to drive the feature set of the iQOO 12.
Additionally, the smartphone incorporates a Supercomputing Chip Q1, a custom chip powering the iQOO 12’s key features: Game Super Resolution, Game Super Frame Rate, and Game Display Enhancement. Complementing the processor and chip is an Adreno 750 GPU, ensuring optimal in-game performance and swift storage.
The iQOO 12 boasts a substantial 16GB RAM and 512GB of memory. Its triple rear camera setup, presented in a distinctive “porthole design,” comprises an Astrography camera, Periscope Telephoto camera, and Wide-Angle camera.
The Astrography camera features a 50MP lens with a large 1/1.3-inch main sensor, promising enhanced low-light photography, color accuracy, and signal-to-noise ratio. The Periscope Telephoto Camera integrates a 64MP lens with a 1/2-inch sensor, supporting up to 100X Digital Zoom through a Neural Image Computational Engine. And the Wide-Angle Camera incorporates a 50MP lens with a 1/2.76-inch sensor, facilitating diverse wide-angle photography modes.
The camera setup supports impressive video capabilities, including 8K video at 30 FPS, 4K video at up to 60 FPS, and 720p,1080p video at up to 240 FPS for captivating slow-motion shots. Furthermore, AI-powered noise cancellation and detail enhancement algorithms enhance the quality of the captured footage.
The iQOO 12 features notable components such as linear motors that deliver haptic feedback during gaming. Its dual stereo speaker design enhances the gaming experience by amplifying sounds like footsteps and gunshots in first-person shooter games, while ensuring accurate instrument separation during audio playback.
In terms of durability, the iQOO 12 is equipped with an IP64 rating for dust and water-splash resistance. To manage heat dissipation, it incorporates a 6K vapor chamber, a low-temperature sensitivity design, and an under-display graphite cooling film.
Powering the device is a 5000mAh Graphite battery supporting 120W FlashCharge. iQOO emphasizes the higher battery density achieved through its graphite battery technology compared to alternative solutions.
The iQOO 12 introduces power-saving features like Battery Saver Mode and 0% Battery Instant Startup. Additionally, the AMOLED display dynamically adjusts refresh rates to minimize power consumption.
