Lenovo has unveiled their 16-inch IdeaPad Gaming Chromebook, which is targeted at all gamers, whether casual or serious, who want a great gameplay experience at an insanely low price of under $600.
The laptop costs just $599 – which is pretty unheard of for a gaming laptop. So you’re probably wondering, how has Lenovo managed to pull this off? Thanks to cloud gaming.
Yep, the Ideapad Gaming Chromebook comes with a twist. Unlike other laptops in Lenovo’s Ideapad portfolio, this is Lenovo’s first-ever cloud gaming laptop. Cloud gaming is the secret sauce behind the affordable price point of the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming Chromebook.
If you don’t already know what it is, cloud gaming is the idea of gaming on any device without being restricted by the typical hardware requirements of most gaming titles, which usually require a pricey gaming PC with an expensive GPU and CPU.
Unlike most typical gaming laptops, the IdeaPad Gaming Chromebook lacks many of the usual hardware specs that accompany gaming laptops since its gaming is processed in the cloud. However, it packs all the specifications for leading cloud gaming platforms like NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Amazon Luna, and Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta). Lenovo says you will be able to easily play AAA and multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) games on the Chromebook.
The Chromebook packs in a 120Hz WQXGA 16:10 display with a webcam with a privacy shutter, an Intel Core i3/i5 processor, and Wi-Fi 6E2 connectivity, for smooth and responsive gameplay streaming.
The Lenovo Ideapad Gaming Chromebook also features an RGB keyboard with four-zone color backlighting and an anti-ghosting feature supported by the keyboard’s 1.5 mm key travel.
Battery life is claimed to be 11 hours on a charge.
