Huawei has announced their answer to the AirPods 2, the FreeBuds 3. These truly wireless earbuds offer a similar form factor to the AirPods, but they offer several features that the AirPods don’t, such as active noise cancelation and intelligent noise control.
When it comes to comfort, the FreeBuds earbuds sport an ergonomic curvature which claims to be comfortable for hours of use. Speaking of hours of use, the FreeBuds 3 will last 4 hours on a single charge, or 20 hours with its charging case. Huawei says that they also charge very fast via wired or wireless charging.
When It comes to their sonic prowess, the FreeBuds 3 pack in a 14mm high-sensitivity dynamic driver with a dedicated bass tube. The new FreeBuds 3 are also powered by Huawei’s new Kirin A1 chipset for wearables. This chipset is 5% smaller than the Apple H1 and it supports Ultra HD Audio in the form of BT-UHD (2.3Mbps). For some reference, the AirPods and most other similar truly wireless headphones can’t go near being able to support practically uncompressed audio.
The buds also pack in a patented aerodynamic mic duct that helps defeat the wind, allowing you to talk freely outside without struggling to speak louder.
Huawei’s FreeBuds 3 will be available in white or black. Unfortunately, there’s no word on whether they will ever make it stateside, and they likely won’t.
