Sylvester Stallone has been starring in action-packed movies like Rocky and Rambo for over five decades now. But do you know that he just made his leading role debut in a TV series? Yes. The veteran actor stars in a relatively new comedy crime drama series called Tulsa King. If it’s your first time hearing about this TV show, then continue reading below to learn more about it, including where you can watch it.
What is Tulsa King about?
Created by Yellowstone mastermind Taylor Sheridan, Tulsa King is a crime drama with comedic elements, which follows Dwight “The General” Manfredi New York Mafia capo played by Sylvester Stallone.
After serving a 25-year prison sentence, Dwight is released. But instead of a triumphant return, his boss unexpectedly exiles him to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Completely out of his element, Dwight sets about building a new criminal empire in this unfamiliar territory. He recruits a crew of quirky and unexpected characters to help him navigate the unfamiliar world and establish his criminal enterprise.
The show centers on Dwight’s struggles to adapt to a new life, the challenges of building a criminal organization from scratch, and the humor that arises from clashing his old-school mob mentality with the modern world of Oklahoma.

Has Tulsa King been renewed for a season 2?
Tulsa King was a big hit for Paramount+, which renewed the series for a second season very quickly after the first season premiered in November 2022.
Terence Winter served as the series showrunner for the first season but was demoted ahead of the second due to creative differences. Although the first season was largely filmed in Oklahoma City, production on the second season will relocate to Atlanta after complaints from cast and crew members.
Production on season 2 began in early April this year. Filming timelines can vary, but this suggests a release sometime later in 2024 is likely. In fact, several news outlets report that season 2 is expected to return in Fall 2024.
Is Tulsa King worth watching?
Despite causing a television ratings boost during its linear broadcast on Paramount Network and a subscription boost on Paramount+, Tulsa King received mixed reviews from critics. Many praised the performance of Stallone but criticized the dialogue and overall story arc, which some found predictable or a bit silly. Critics also pointed out that the first few episodes can be slow-paced as they establish the characters and setting.
