Frozen 2 documentary series gets a June release date on Disney+ 1

Disney+ has set the release date for the documentary Into the Unknown: Making Frozen 2.

The six-episode docuseries, which will take fans behind the scenes of the biggest animated hit of all time, will arrive on the streaming service on June 26th. But unlike other shows on the streamer, the documentary will release all of its episodes at once.

Produced by Lincoln Square Productions and Walt Disney Animation Studios, Into the Unknown: Making Frozen 2 will follow director/writer/chief creative officer Jennifer Lee, director Chris Buck, producer Peter Del Vecho, songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, actors Kristen Bell (Anna), Idina Menzel (Elsa), Josh Gad (Olaf), Jonathan Groff (Kristoff), Sterling K. Brown (Lieutenant Mattias), Evan Rachel Wood (Iduna) and the talented artists and technicians of Disney Animation as they race against time to finish the film.

With the clock ticking and less than a year until the world premiere of Frozen 2, the cast and crew reveal the hard work, heart, and collaboration it takes to create one of the most highly-anticipated films in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ near-century of moviemaking. Cameras were rolling behind-the-scenes to capture the challenges and the breakthroughs the entire production team of Frozen 2 had faced during the making of the movie.

Premiered in U.S. theaters on November 22nd, 2019, Frozen 2 went on to gross $477 million in North America and $973 million overseas, for a total of $1.45 billion worldwide.

Frozen 2 was initially set to arrive on Disney+ on June 26th, but after the COVID-19 pandemic started to cause people to stay home, the movie was released on the streaming service last March 15th ― three months earlier than its originally streaming debut. Unsurprisingly, the film has remained one of the most popular titles on the streamer over the last couple of months.
