If you’ve ever worked for or shopped at a Gas Express-owned Circle K, you might be eligible for a cash payout. A recent settlement is offering affected individuals up to $2,000 following a data breach that exposed Social Security numbers and driver’s license info.

The case targets Gas Express LLC, the largest Circle K franchise operator, which runs more than 180 locations across Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, and Louisiana. According to the lawsuit, customer data was exposed in a breach.

Gas Express has not admitted wrongdoing, but agreed to a settlement to avoid continuing legal action but not everyone qualifies automatically.

Eligible customers have already been contacted, and you must be based in the U.S. to claim compensation.

From there, payouts depend on your situation and what actually happened to your data.

However, while some reports mention ‘customers,’ this payout primarily targets those whose most sensitive data—like SSNs—was on file with Gas Express. If you didn’t receive a formal breach notice in the mail, you likely aren’t eligible, as standard credit card transactions at the pump weren’t part of this specific hack.

The payouts are in three categories

There is the main payout tier. If you can show documented losses like fraud charges, identity theft, ID replacement fees, and credit monitoring costs, you can claim up to $2,000. However, the losses must have happened between May 20, 2024 and September 3, 2026.

If you were affected but don’t have documentation, there is a smaller payout option. You can claim up to $50 but only 700 people can get this.

Once that cap is hit, no more claims will be accepted in this category.

Beyond these two payout categories, there is a free identity protection, where all eligible claimants can receive two years of financial protection services and up to $1 million in fraud insurance coverage. This is meant to help if issues show up later.

If you were affected, this is one of those situations worth paying attention to. Even if you do not care about the money, you can look into what kind of data was exposed and what that could mean down the line.

How to Claim

If you believe you’re part of the settlement, you must submit a claim form at GasExpressDataSettlement.com by September 3, 2026.
