Apple’s latest earbuds promise to solve the fit issues that plagued their predecessor, the Beats Fit Pro—but do they deliver?

When we reviewed the Beats Fit Pro back in 2021, we were smitten with almost everything about them. The pastel finish, the stellar sound quality, the seamless iOS integration—it was all there. So much so that we said, “Beats Fit Pro has knocked it out of the park.” But we had some gripes like the fact that the included “small” ear tips weren’t small enough. It seems Apple was listening.

Beats just dropped the Powerbeats Fit – essentially a rebrand and redesign of the Beats Fit Pro that addresses our biggest complaints while throwing in some welcome upgrades.

The Powerbeats Fit isn’t a revolutionary redesign—it’s more like Beats Fit Pro 2.0, and that’s perfectly fine by us. The most significant change is that redesigned wingtip, which is 20% more flexible than before and a lot more comfortable.

This time around, Beats is including 4 ear tip sizes instead of three – extra-small, small, medium, and large. The extra-small option is a game-changer for those of us with smaller ear canals.

We tested the new Powerbeats Fit at the gym and discovered that the new wingtip is just as secure as the hook on the Powerbeats Pro 2, so don’t worry about using them during vigorous workouts.

The case has slimmed down too—it’s 17% smaller than the original Beats Fit Pro. If you remember our original review, we loved how pocketable the Beats Fit Pro case was compared to the larger Powerbeats Pro. Making it even more compact? We approve!

When it comes to audio, everything we gushed about in the original Beats Fit Pro appears to be intact. The Powerbeats Fit still delivers that warm, balanced Beats’ sound we’ve grown to love. And the H1 chip magic with seamless iOS integration, “Hey Siri” activation, and Find My support? All there. The new wingtips also offer a more secure-fit, which further improves the audio quality.

That said, if you’re a picky audiophile, the Powerbeats Pro 2, with its H2 chip is better suited for you. Personally, I prefer the look and fit of the Powerbeats Fit.

Active Noise Cancelling and Transparency mode are back too and work great. We particularly loved how natural the ANC sounded on the Beats Fit Pro—never that artificial, processed feeling you get with some competitors and that carries through on the new Powerbeats Fit.

Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking is included, and we maintain our stance from the original review: fixed spatial audio is incredible. Once you experience that “you’re in the room” feeling, regular audio feels flat.

Call quality is great on the Powrbeats Fit. I could hear callers even in a noisy airport environment, and they said they had no problems hearing me.

One thing that impressed us about the original Beats Fit Pro was how much functionality Android users retained through the Beats app. The Powerbeats Fit continues this tradition with one-touch pairing, customizable controls, battery status, and that crucial Fit Test feature to help you nail the perfect ear tip size. Android users still miss out on “Hey Siri” and Find My, but that’s to be expected.

Although we haven’t finished testing battery life, battery life looks solid on paper. Seven hours per earbud, 30 total with the case—that’s actually better than the original Beats Fit Pro’s six hours per bud. The Fast Fuel quick charging remains, giving you an hour of playback from just 5 minutes of charging.

Both the earbuds and the now-smaller case maintain IPX4 water resistance, that means sweat and light rain are no problem, but don’t take the Powerbeats FitIswimming.

Priced at $199.99, Powerbeats Fit are the same price as the original Beats Fit Pro. And giving credit where it’s due—the color options are fun. Jet Black and Gravel Gray are safe choices, but Spark Orange and Power Pink show Beats isn’t afraid to have some fun.

Apple and Beats have a track record of listening to feedback and iterating intelligently. The Powerbeats Fit is a perfect example of that. The new wingtips are more comfortable while offering a secure-fit and the included extra-small ear-tips mean those with smaller ears can really enjoy these earbuds. Ultimately, with Powerbeats Fit, Beats has created the perfect workout earbuds.

The Powerbeats Fit is available now, with retail availability starting October 2nd.
