Parisians are enjoying an improved navigation experience on Apple Maps, thanks to a recently released update.
With more detailed mapping data, Apple Maps now provides Parisians with an extra layer of excitement in their user experience.
The new update includes detailed 3D custom models and icons of landmarks around Paris, enhancing the richness of their user experience. Apple has announced 29 locations with both landmark models and icons, as well as 5 locations with either one of the two.
Some of the landmarks included in the Apple Maps update are the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, Notre-Dame Cathedral, Château de Versailles (Versailles), Arc de Triomphe, Musée d’Orsay, Basilique du Sacre-Coeur de Montmartre, Centre Pompidou, Palais Garnier, and Sainte-Chapelle. These landmarks feature stunning models that enhance the experience of touring Paris using the Apple Maps app.
The update also includes additional details like road markings and tree elevations, providing users with a more accurate visualization of the locations they are viewing on the map.
With the launch of the new feature in Paris, the city has surpassed San Francisco as the city with the most custom icons – 33 in total, compared to San Francisco’s 31 custom icons. Other cities where Apple Maps users can enjoy this detailed map feature include Los Angeles, New York, and London.
As more custom 3D models and icons are launched, along with more map features in cities across the globe, tourists may find it increasingly convenient to navigate cities with an Apple device and Siri as their tour guide, as opposed to the traditional method of employing human guides.
Apple also introduced a “cycling directions” feature with the update. This feature offers full cycling directions support, enabling cyclists to pinpoint their location and destination and enjoy smooth navigation using the Apple Maps app.
Apple enthusiasts believe that the features will soon be launched in Spain, Portugal, and Italy, but we could not confirm the authenticity of this information.
Apple has also rolled out Apple Business Connect, which allows locals businesses to claim their location place cards on Apple Maps and customize how their business information appease across Apple Maps, Messages, Wallet, Siri and other apps.
