Subway is turning up the heat with a surprising new menu collaboration that puts Doritos in the spotlight. The unlikely pairing brings a crunchy, fiery twist to one of Subway’s latest creations, but the real surprise is the sweet-and-spicy ingredient taking it over the top. Read on to discover what’s behind Subway’s bold new Doritos-loaded nachos and why this limited-time creation is turning heads.
Subway’s Hot Honey comeback gets a crunchy Doritos twist
Subway is giving its fans what they asked for, bringing back its wildly popular Hot Honey sauce with a big upgrade. Jumping on the popular “swicy” (sweet and spicy) food trend, the sandwich chain has joined forces with Doritos to create a brand-new, bite-sized menu item.
The new Doritos Hot Honey Nachos start with a warm bed of classic Doritos Nacho Cheese chips. They are stacked with melted Monterey cheddar, fresh veggies, and a generous drizzle of Subway’s Hot Honey sauce, delivering the perfect mix of crunch, heat, and sweetness.
To make ordering simple, Subway created three ready-to-eat options:
- Cheese
- Chicken
- Steak
The Cheese and Chicken nachos start at $4.99 at participating locations, making them an affordable snack or meal add-on.
“Our guests made it clear they wanted Hot Honey back, and we wanted to do more than simply bring back the same lineup,” said Jeff Klein, Chief Marketing Officer. “We partnered with Doritos® to give them something completely unexpected: loaded Hot Honey Nachos with the big flavor, satisfying crunch, and value guests expect from Subway.
Two new Hot Honey subs join the lineup
The Hot Honey flavor also returns to Subway’s sandwiches with two new creations: Hot Honey Italian and Hot Honey Turkey Italiano.
The Hot Honey Italian comes toasted with salami, pepperoni, Italian-style provolone and Hot Honey, while the Hot Honey Turkey Italiano follows the same combination while adding turkey to the mix.
Subway says the secret behind the new menu items is the flavor balance. Subway’s Hot Honey mixes real honey sweetness with a kick of fiery chili pepper, finished with a subtle tangy touch that pairs perfectly with cheese and toasted meats.
“Great Hot Honey is all about balance. You want enough heat to wake up the flavor, followed by a touch of sweetness that keeps you coming back for another bite,” said Chef Paul Fabre, Senior Vice President of Culinary Innovation.
Subway is also adding a new beverage option to its lineup with Propel Kiwi Strawberry. The drink features Gatorade electrolytes, zero sugar, and vitamins B3, B5, B6, C, and E.
For now, Kiwi Strawberry is the only Propel flavor being offered at Subway, and the beverage is only available for a limited time.
Subway’s Hot Honey Signature Swicy Collection arrives on August 20 and will be available through October 26, while supplies last. Customers can order through the Subway App, online at Subway.com, or at participating Subway restaurants across the United States.
