Beyond reminding you about meetings, answering questions, and occasionally suggesting photos you forgot existed, TECNO wants your phone to take over some of your daily chores. The smartphone maker has unveiled the latest version of EllaClaw, its experimental mobile AI agent designed to move beyond chatbots and become more of a digital assistant that actually gets things done.

EllaClaw wants to be your phone’s caretaker

This new version of EllaClaw is built around agentic AI, which can take actions on your behalf instead of simply responding to commands. One of its biggest upgrades is deeper access to the phone itself.

Using more than 40 built-in “Smart Skills,” EllaClaw can monitor and optimize your device with a simple request. According to TECNO, the AI can free up RAM to reduce lag, identify battery-draining apps, cool down the device during heavy usage, and even monitor mobile data consumption. For users in markets where mobile data is expensive, that last feature could be especially useful.

Importantly, TECNO says EllaClaw uses a confirmation-first approach, meaning users must approve major changes before the AI makes them.

The AI learns your routines over time

TECNO is also giving EllaClaw persistent memory capabilities. That means the assistant can gradually learn user preferences and habits to offer more personalized help.

According to the company, EllaClaw could eventually provide morning briefings that combine calendars, weather updates, travel plans, and news into a single overview. It can also function as a trip-planning assistant by organizing schedules, setting alarms, and helping arrange transportation.

TECNO even envisions the AI reminding users to check in with family members or loved ones based on established habits.

The real breakthrough may be cross-app intelligence

Perhaps the most interesting feature is EllaClaw’s ability to work across multiple apps. With user permission, the AI can interact with third-party services in categories such as transportation, shopping, food delivery, and smart home management. Instead of relying on deep integrations, TECNO says EllaClaw uses visible, human-like interactions to navigate apps, allowing users to watch what the AI is doing in real time.

That could enable features like booking rides through natural conversation, comparing products while shopping online, managing connected smart home devices, and coordinating tasks across multiple apps.

Don’t expect to use it just yet

Before you ask EllaClaw to run your life, note that the technology is still in development. For now, TECNO says EllaClaw remains in internal testing and closed beta, so most consumers won’t be able to try it just yet. Your phone probably won’t be ordering dinner and optimizing your battery by next week. But the direction is becoming clear.
