January is when Disneyland starts paying back the holiday season.

This year, that means there will be 11 temporary closures spread across Disneyland and Disney California Adventure once the winter holidays wrap up on Jan. 7, before DCA’s 2026 Lunar New Year kicks off Jan. 23.

The headline closure is Rise of the Resistance. Disneyland’s most popular ride goes down on Jan. 20 and there is no reopening date listed. This is the first scheduled refurbishment for the Galaxy’s Edge ride since it opened in 2020.

Two holiday overlays are also coming off. Haunted Mansion switches back to its traditional version Jan. 12–22 and it’s a Small World starts its changeover work Jan. 26, with no return date posted yet. This process usually takes under two weeks.

Disney California Adventure’s Pixar Pier takes a hit early. The Incredicoaster and Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind both close starting Jan. 5. There are no listed return dates.

On the same day, Grizzly River Run shuts down for its annual winter refurbishment. There's also no reopening date scheduled.

A few days later, Redwood Creek Challenge Trail is closing on Jan. 8, also without a return date announced.

Over at the Rivers of America, the boats get staggered closures. Mark Twain Riverboat: Jan. 12–15. Sailing Ship Columbia: starting Jan. 26, return date not listed. “Fantasmic” also goes dark in blocks through the month: Jan. 5–8, Jan. 11–15, Jan. 18–22, and Jan. 25–29.

And Pixie Hollow shifts into an on-and-off schedule. It’s closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays in January: Jan. 1, 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, and 29. The meet-and-greet area was recently closed for a 10-month refurbishment, according to the story.

Separate from the January list, the report also notes “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” has been closed since April and isn’t expected back until August, after the run of Disneyland’s 70th anniversary celebration. The newer “Walt Disney — A Magical Life” show that debuted in July will run solo at first and later rotate with Lincoln. Disneyland may also bring Lincoln back temporarily if the Walt Disney animatronic has problems, the report said.
