La Palma, a miniseries from Norwegian production company Fantefilm, (creators of the acclaimed disaster films The Wave — 2015 and The Quake — 2018), marks Netflix’s latest investment in Nordic content and is expected to make a major international impact, putting the island front and center.
The series follows a family’s vacation to the picturesque Spanish island of La Palma, which takes a dark turn when a young researcher discovers signs of an impending volcanic disaster. The potential eruption threatens to trigger what could be one of the most devastating tsunamis in history.
