Wendy’s is bringing back the $1 small Classic Frosty in Chocolate or Vanilla flavors from July 20 through August 23 at participating locations.

Rewards members can jump the line by redeeming the offer in the app on July 19, which happens to be National Ice Cream Day.

The July 19 offer is limited to one per account, however, and requires registration. During the main promotion period, customers can purchase up to 10 of the $1 small Frostys per transaction.

Actual savings vary depending on the store location, as Wendy’s Frosty pricing isn’t uniform across the country and moves around by region. It’s also worth noting that prices tend to run higher in Alaska and Hawaii. HackTheMenu currently lists a small Classic Chocolate near $2.49, putting the $1 promotional price at roughly $1.50 off, give or take.

The deal is available as a standalone order at the counter, drive-thru, app, or website. Delivery is excluded, though.

Wendy’s has run similar $1 Frosty promotions in past summers, including a 2024 deal that offered small Frostys for $1 from early August through mid-September. The fast food chain has been selling Frostys since its opening day in 1969.

Chocolate was the original flavor, with Vanilla being added later on. The latter is yet to catch up with Chocolate’s popularity, though it has people who swear by it.

What makes it a Frosty and not a milkshake is its distinct density. It’s too thick for a straw, yet not firm enough to scoop like traditional ice cream. Hence the spoon.

The fry dipping has become an essential part of the experience as well. It’s been happening long enough that Wendy’s has stopped treating it as a customer quirk and embraced it as a signature feature.

The promotion is pitched around classic summer moments. Road trips, hot afternoons, back-to-school runs, all the good stuff. But the offering also reflects the larger pricing competition that’s at play, with fast food chains having spent the last year throwing $5 menus and app-exclusive freebies at customers who’ve been eating out less.
