Katey Sagal, who currently plays Louise Goldufski on the ABC sitcom The Conners, was struck by a car while crossing a street in Los Angeles.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that the accident happened at 11:40 a.m. PT on Thursday. Sagal was reportedly at a crosswalk when a Tesla making a left turn seemingly didn’t see her and tagged her. The driver of the car stopped to help the 67-year-old actress, who was then transported by an ambulance to a local hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
According to TMZ’s sources, no drugs or alcohol were involved. And while no citations and no arrests were made at the time of the incident, the case remains under investigation.
A day after the incident, Sagal’s husband Kurt Sutter took to Instagram to give an update on his wife’s condition. “She’s the only one bringing in money right now,” the 61-year-old writer-producer jokingly wrote, alongside a screenshot of a web article about Sagal’s accident. “So I’ll be picking her up from the hospital later, taking her to that Dancing with the Stars audition. #fingerscrossed.”
Sagal and Sutter, who got married in 2004, share a 14-year-old daughter named Esmé Louise. Sagal also shares daughter Sarah, 27, and son Jackson, 25, with ex-husband Jack White to whom she was married from 1993 to 2000.
Speaking of marriage, Sagal’s Louise finally tied the knot with John Goodman’s Dan Conner in last week’s season 4, episode 4 of The Conners.
Sagal has been a recurring cast member on the series since season 1. Her character was introduced as Dan’s old flame. Following the death of his wife Roseanne Conner (Roseanne Bar), Dan got close with Louise once again. Louise wanted to start a romantic relationship with Dan right away, but the latter found it hard to commit to a new romance as he was still grieving his wife.
“We’re taking it slow,” showrunner Bruce Helford explained to TV Line back in 2019. “She wants a relationship. She wants romance. She is not giving up. But Dan is still having difficulty. He’s struggling with whether he’d be betraying [Roseanne] if he does move toward someone else. And can he ever find that feeling with anybody else?”
The Conners airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
