It’s time to prepare your wallets because Samsung just dropped a bomb at their Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris. The Korean tech giant has unveiled its latest foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6, along with the new Galaxy Buds3 and Buds3 Pro.
When it comes to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6, Samsung says that both phones now offer flagship specs, most notably in the camera department, which is something most foldables tend to fail miserably at.
Remember when Samsung introduced Galaxy AI earlier this year? Well, they’re taking it up a notch with these new foldables. The Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 are here to show us how AI can make the most of their flexible form factors.
Imagine using the Z Fold’s massive 7.6-inch screen or the Z Flip’s nifty FlexWindow to unleash AI powers you never knew you needed. From smart replies to on-the-fly translations, these devices aim to be AI powerhouses in your pocket.
Z Fold6: Lighter and more compact
The Z Fold6 is like the Swiss Army knife of smartphones. It’s got a 7.6-inch main screen that’s perfect for multitasking ninjas. But the real magic happens when you pair it with the S Pen and let AI take the wheel.
Got a messy handwritten note? The new Note Assist feature will clean it up, translate it, and even summarize it for you. It can also transform drawings into a more artistic image using generative AI. And if you’re working with PDFs, say goodbye to language barriers with the new overlay translation feature.
On the design front, the latest generation of the Z Fold6 is lighter and more compact than ever before. It now weighs 239 grams, making it only a tad heavier than many candy bar flagships.
Z Flip6: Better camera, bigger battery
Don’t let its compact size fool you—the Z Flip6 is packing some serious AI punch. The 3.4-inch FlexWindow gets a major software upgrade, allowing you to do more without even flipping open your phone.
There are also AI-powered wallpapers that change based on the time and weather. It’s like your phone is alive! And for all you photography enthusiasts, the new Auto Zoom feature uses AI to frame your shots perfectly, hands-free.
Design-wise, the Z Flip6 is nearly identical to its processor, which is somewhat disappointing since we would’ve loved to see it sport an external display that is similar in size to the recently released Moto Razr+.
That said, while externally the Z Flip6 looks practically identical to its predecessor, it’s now built with tougher, longer-lasting materials, an improved hinge, and a less visible crease. The Z Flip6 has also abandoned its previous glossy exterior for a matte finish, which we wholeheartedly prefer.
Last but not least, its cameras sport a bold colored outline that matches its color options which include: silver shadow, yellow, blue, mint, crafted black, white, and peach.
The Nitty Gritty
Now, let’s talk specs. Both foldables are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, which is basically the Usain Bolt of mobile processors. They’ve also got improved cooling systems, so you can game or multitask to your heart’s content without breaking a sweat.
The Z Fold6 comes with a 4,400mAh battery, while the Z Flip6 packs an upgraded 4,000mAh one. Both support fast charging and wireless PowerShare, so you can be a good Samaritan and charge your friend’s phone (or your Buds) when they’re running low.
As for the cameras, the Z Fold6 sports a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP main sensor, while the Z Flip6 has a dual rear camera with the same 50MP main shooter. Samsung says that these cameras are flagship-level cameras, which is something much needed in the foldable space.
Buds3 Series: Your AI-Powered Earbuds
Samsung didn’t forget about our ears either. The new Galaxy Buds3 and Buds3 Pro are here to make your audio experience smarter than ever.
Imagine attending a lecture in a foreign language and having it translated directly into your ears. That’s exactly what the new Interpreter feature can do when paired with your Galaxy phone.
The Buds3 Pro takes things further with Adaptive Noise Control, which uses AI to adjust your audio experience based on your surroundings. It can even detect when you’re speaking and automatically lower your music volume.
But boy do the Buds3 look familiar. Design-wise, they are practically AirPod clones.
Pricing and Pre-orders
Samsung’s new foldables and earbuds are set to hit the shelves on July 24th, with pre-orders starting right now. The Z Fold6 starts at a wallet-denting $1,899.99, while the Z Flip6 is a bit easier on the pocket at $1,099.99. The Buds3 and Buds3 Pro will set you back $179.99 and $249.99 respectively.
