Projectors — they don’t need to look like ’90s office vestiges after all! The Samsung Freestyle was just announced during CES 2022, and beyond the cool mini spotlight look it’s got going on, it turns out we’ve got a pretty versatile little projector here to play with.

Samsung is championing the lightness (just under two pounds!) and versatility of the Freestyle first and foremost, but it’s also meant to be powerful enough to work for folks who need high-quality video and audio at the same time. Thanks to the 180 degree stand, the Freestyle can be tilted to project onto both walls and ceilings, with a clear, high-quality picture anywhere between 30″ and 100″. According to Samsung, light output should be bright enough to work outdoors, as well. Once you’ve tilted it in place, auto-focus and auto-levelling features will ensure the picture ends up aligned and clear.

It’s even more versatile than all that, though. Interestingly, there’s also an E26 lightbulb socket accessory, allowing the projector to be installed in place of a light bulb. We like the design, but hey, if you can hide your projector away by disguising it as recessed lighting, that works too! To that end, attachable lens caps can help change or create mood lighting which can be synced to playlists for a live visualizer-like experience. It’s also equipped with 360-degree sound and far-field voice control to make sure audio is as good as video.

Not sure when we’ll be able to get our hands on one just yet, but we’ll certainly be keeping an eye on the Samsung Freestyle in 2022!
