Zaria and Malia Pyles have joined the cast of HBO Max’s Pretty Little Liars: Origin Sin.
A darker and present-day reboot of Freeform’s Pretty Little Liars, Pretty Little Liars: Origin Sin will feature a new story, new setting, and new characters. Twenty years ago, a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart. Now, in the present day, a group of disparate teen girls — a brand-new set of Little Liars — find themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin their parents committed two decades ago…as well as their own.
Relative newcomer Zaria, who appeared on ABC’s Black-ish and Netflix’s Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!, will play Faran in Pretty Little Liars: Origin Sin. A poised, disciplined ballerina with aspirations to make it out of Millwood, Zaria is threatened not only by the villain “A” but also by a thousand microaggressions in the world of ballet.

Pyles, meanwhile, will portray Minnie, the youngest of the Little Liars who has survived a childhood trauma. Though she spends most of her time in a virtual world, Minnie is more than capable of taking on the dark forces of Millwood, including “A.” Pyles is best known for her recurring role as Sarah Baskets on the FX comedy-drama series Baskets. Her other TV credits include The CW’s Batwoman, Freeform’s The Fosters, and CBS’ Scarlett.

Zaria and Pyles are the latest additions to the reboot’s list of lead stars, which already includes previously announced series regulars Bailee Madison, Maia Reficco, and Chandler Kinney.
Madison will play Imogen, a true survivor and final girl who will drive the mystery of uncovering “A” as she fights for her life and the lives of her friends. Reficco, meanwhile, will portray Noa, a striving, sardonic track star who’s working hard to get her life back to normal after a summer spent in juvenile detention. Lastly, Kinney will appear as Tabby, an aspiring director and horror movie buff who’s hiding a secret.
Produced by Alloy Entertainment and Warner Bros TV, Pretty Little Liars: Origin Sin tapped Lisa Soper to direct the first two episodes of the series.
