Hot on the heels of the news that OnePlus will not offer a 9T model this year, OnePlus has announced the release of the first OxygenOS 12-based Open Beta build for the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro.
OxygenOS 12 has integrated its codebase with ColorOS and the result is an experience that is even more stable and offers better power-saving features. The new Oxygen 12 OS also offers a refreshed user interface and new features.
The new refreshed UI is inspired by James Turrell’s Light and Space artwork. “Visually, the change of light indicates a clearer distance, while hierarchy and interspersed relationships enhance readability and ease of use. In addition, the soft light and shadow minimize the unnecessary distractions in the UI, thus providing a more immersive and comfortable experience.”
OnePlus has also simplified Oxygen’s US visuals with more straightforward typographies that should be more relatable to users from different cultures and regions. They’ve also created a more premium feel by adding more details in the form of shadows, subtle gradients and customizing each visual according to user scenarios.
The U.I.’s Shelf has been revamped too and now offers more customization options. The new Work Life Balance 2.0 allows you to categorize notifications and messages of different apps into two modes sorted by priority. Dark Mode can now be adjusted with three different levels. In regards to gaming, the updated Toolbox 2.0 supports Voice Modulator in five popular games (PUBG/CODM/LOLM/FreeFire/Fortnite) which will allow gamers to change their voice during in-game chats, which in turn can help protect their privacy.
The Open Beta test for Oxygen 12 is now available for OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro. It will be made available for other models in future updates. The following models will be receiving the Oxygen 12 update: OnePlus 8, OnePlus 9R 5G, OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T, OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7T, OnePlus 7T Pro, Nord 2 5G, Nord 1, and Nord CE 5G.
