McDonald’s is introducing the Mini McFlurry, offering a smaller portion of your favorite frozen dessert. But that’s not all! This exciting announcement comes alongside a more sustainable twist – the fast-food giant is ditching the traditional McFlurry cup lids in favor of a new, eco-friendly design. Read on to learn all about the Mini McFlurry and how McDonald’s is making sweet moves towards sustainability.
Meet the Mini McFlurry
It’s often said that good things come in small packages, and starting September 10, McDonald’s will prove it with the launch of the Mini McFlurry. This smaller version of the beloved dessert will be available at participating locations across the U.S., offering a delightful way to enjoy your favorite treat. Whether you’re a fan of the classic OREO® McFlurry, prefer the M&M’S® variety, or love trying limited-time special flavors, the Mini McFlurry delivers all the satisfaction in a convenient, smaller size.
Have a friend who always wants “just a bite”? Skip the extra spoon and treat them to their own Mini McFlurry. Or if you need a quick afternoon pick-me-up, the Mini McFlurry is just the right size for you.
For comparison, a regular full-size Oreo McFlurry contains 410 calories, 10 grams of protein, 64 grams of total carbohydrates, and 13 grams of total fat. A mini Oreo McFlurry, on the other hand, only has 240 calories, 5 grams of protein, 37 grams of total carbohydrates, and 8 grams of total fat.
McFlurry and Mini McFlurry Get New Sustainable Cups
McDonald’s is making a significant stride towards sustainability by introducing a new, eco-friendly packaging for its iconic McFlurry. Starting this month, both the Mini and Regular McFlurry will be served in a four-flap cup, eliminating the need for plastic lids. This change is part of the company’s broader commitment to using 100% renewable, recycled, or certified materials in primary guest packaging by the end of 2025.
“Packaging updates like this matter,” said Michael Gonda, SVP, Chief Impact Officer of North America for McDonald’s, in a statement. “Not only is this a fun new way for our U.S. fans to enjoy the McFlurry; we’re also moving one step closer to fulfilling our packaging and waste commitments.”
The four-flap cups have already been implemented in several international markets, including Canada and Indonesia. Now, U.S. customers can experience the convenience and environmental benefits of this innovative packaging.
