Philo is introducing a new way for viewers to stream live TV for less. The streaming pay-TV service has launched a new Essential plan priced at $25 per month. With this new plan, customers can now have a more affordable entry point into the brand’s lineup of entertainment-focused channels.

The move arrives as streaming services continue to compete on price and flexibility. With the Essential plan, Philo aims to attract viewers who want a traditional cable-style channel lineup without paying the higher monthly costs typically associated with live TV streaming platforms.

A Lower-Cost Plan for Entertainment Fans

The Philo Essential plan costs $25 per month, making it one of the most affordable options among live TV streaming services. It includes the company’s core lineup of 70+ live entertainment channels, focusing primarily on lifestyle, reality, and general entertainment programming.

Subscribers also get access to more than 120 free ad-supported streaming channels (FAST) in addition to the live lineup. On top of that, the service offers over 80,000 on-demand titles, allowing you to watch shows and movies whenever you want. A 7-day free trial is available for the new Essential plan, allowing new customers to explore the service before committing to a subscription.

How It Compares to Philo’s Existing Plan

The new Essential tier sits below Philo’s existing Bundle+ plan, which costs $33 per month. While Bundle+ includes everything in Essential, it also adds access to the ad-supported versions of HBO Max, Discovery+, and AMC+.

By offering a stripped-down option, Philo gives its subscribers the flexibility to choose. You can either opt for a lower-cost plan focused purely on live channels or a slightly higher-priced package that bundles additional streaming services.

A Strategy Focused on Affordability

Philo’s approach to live TV streaming is built around keeping costs down. Unlike many competitors, the service does not include broadcast channels; instead, it focuses on entertainment networks. This strategy allows it to offer lower monthly pricing compared to some larger live TV streaming platforms.

The service currently reaches more than one million subscribers. And the introduction of the Essential plan suggests Philo is doubling down on its value-focused positioning in the increasingly crowded streaming market.

With the $25 Essential plan now available, viewers looking for a budget-friendly alternative to cable may find it appealing. It’s a great choice if you prefer entertainment channels over traditional broadcast programming.
