LG is officially entering a new category of premium gaming displays with the launch of its 39-inch UltraGear evo GX9 OLED monitor. Positioned as the world’s first 39-inch 5K2K OLED gaming monitor, the GX9 combines ultra-high resolution and OLED contrast in an ultrawide display.

LG is clearly targeting gamers and creators who want both cinematic visuals and high-performance gameplay without compromise. Now available for pre-order at $1,800, this monitor has already built momentum after winning Best Gaming Monitor at CES 2026.

A Massive 5K2K OLED Display Built for Immersion

The standout feature of the GX9 is its 39-inch curved 5K2K OLED panel, offering a resolution of 5120 x 2160 in a wide 21:9 aspect ratio. Combined with a 1500R curve, the monitor pulls you deeper into games while also creating a large workspace for multitasking and creative work.

LG says the display hits the “sweet spot” between size, detail, and speed. With a 143 PPI pixel density, text, HUD elements, and fine in-game details appear sharper and easier to read compared to many traditional ultrawide monitors.

Dual-Mode Refresh Rates for Different Gaming Styles

One of the most unique features is LG’s Dual Mode refresh rate system. It allows you to switch between 5K2K resolution at 165Hz for visually rich AAA gaming and WFHD at 330Hz for ultra-fast competitive gameplay.

This flexibility lets the monitor adapt depending on whether you prioritize image quality or maximum responsiveness. LG has also included a 0.03ms response time, helping to reduce ghosting and motion blur during fast-paced action.

LG OLED Visuals with Eye Comfort Features

The monitor uses LG’s 4th Gen RGB Tandem OLED technology. This allows it to deliver improved brightness, stronger contrast, and more accurate color reproduction.

It also carries multiple certifications for visual quality, including VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500, as well as UL certifications for Perfect Black and Perfect Color. Plus, you get eye comfort features designed to reduce glare and eye strain during long gaming sessions.

Built for Modern Gaming Setups

The GX9 also introduces several AI-powered tools. AI Sound analyzes on-screen activity and helps separate dialogue, effects, and important gameplay cues, such as footsteps.

Meanwhile, AI Scene Optimization automatically adjusts settings such as sharpness and color temperature based on the type of content being displayed. You also get AI Upscaling, which enhances lower-resolution content to 5K2K quality without requiring a graphics card upgrade.

On the connectivity side, the GX9 includes DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR20), HDMI 2.1, and USB-C with 90W power delivery. You also get NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, helping reduce screen tearing and stuttering during gameplay.

A New Benchmark for OLED Gaming Monitors

With the UltraGear evo GX9, LG is pushing OLED gaming monitors into a new space by combining 5K2K resolution, ultrawide immersion, OLED contrast, and more into a single display. After already generating strong buzz from CES 2026, the monitor is shaping up to be one of LG’s most ambitious gaming displays yet.

The GX9 is now available for pre-order on LG’s website for $1,800. It’s the ideal option for players and creators looking for a monitor that can handle both competitive gaming and high-end visual experiences.
