KFC is serving up a taste of the future in Orlando, Florida. Sixteen of the fast-food chain’s restaurants in the Sunshine State are undergoing a high-tech makeover, introducing streamlined menus, advanced kitchen technology, and a sleek new design to enhance the customer experience. Read on to explore the details of this high-tech makeover and how it’s transforming how you order your favorite finger-lickin’-good fried chicken.

Introducing the New ‘KFC Original’ Prototype

On August 21st, KFC officially announced the testing of its new “KFC Original” prototype in the 16 locations in Orlando.

The new prototype boasts a menu of classic KFC favorites alongside exciting additions. Customers can enjoy Original Recipe Tenders, a variety of dipping sauces, and refreshing frozen beverages. The popular Twister Wraps return, now featuring two crispy chicken tenders, lettuce, diced tomatoes, and your choice of KFC’s signature pepper mayo or spicy sauce.

To enhance customer convenience and efficiency, the new restaurants incorporate several technological advancements. Digital menu boards simplify navigation, while digital ordering kiosks provide a self-service option. Upgraded kitchen technology, including a kitchen display system, ensures accurate order fulfillment.

The overall ambiance of the new “KFC Original” prototype is enhanced by a modern interior design. KFC Original window art, “Stay Original” branding, Colonel-inspired dining chairs, and updated artwork create a welcoming atmosphere. To complete the transformation, team members sport new uniforms featuring updated visors, aprons, and “Stay Original” shirts, designed with input from the employees themselves.

The dining experience is further elevated by a new soundtrack playing inside and at the drive-thru. Additionally, the drive-thru has been redesigned for a smoother, more efficient flow, with clearer menu boards for easy ordering.

‘KFC Original’ Prototype Delivers Significant Improvements

Earlier this summer, many of the 16 KFC locations in Orlando began transitioning to the new “KFC Original” prototype, and the initial results have been remarkable. The fast-food chain reported a significant boost in efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.

Restaurants that have transitioned to the new model have seen a 30% increase in speed of service, a 60% improvement in order accuracy, and a 41% rise in guest satisfaction scores. These positive outcomes are a testament to the effectiveness of the new design, technology, and streamlined menu.

“We’ve listened to our guests and heard what they love about KFC – the unmistakable taste of our Original Recipe fried chicken made hot and fresh with a dose of modern southern hospitality,” said KFC President Tarun Lal in a statement. “These technology upgrades are making the jobs of our team members easier so that they can provide the best fried chicken and the very best service to guests. A streamlined, signature menu plus new modern restaurant technology equals a better team member and guest experience.”

Is the “KFC Original” Prototype Expanding Nationwide?

As of now, there’s no official announcement regarding the expansion of the “KFC Original” model to other parts of the United States. The initial test is currently focused on Orlando, Florida.

However, given the positive results and the potential for significant improvements in customer experience and operational efficiency, it’s highly likely that KFC will consider expanding this prototype to other regions if the Orlando test continues to be successful.
