The Pokémon Company announced that its officially launching celebrations for Pokémon’s 25th-anniversary celebration this year. A charming video showcasing various merch, including Pokemon cards and plushies, accompanied the announcement, and it mentions Katy Perry.
The video goes through various generations of Pokémon ending with a plushie Pikachu and Bulbasaur battling in a Galar stadium. Another stuffed Pikachu then rolls across the screen on a skateboard passing a big, marquee sign showing ‘KATY PERRY & POKÉMON‘. This is most obviously a teaser for a collaboration happening with the pop star.
In its official press release, The Pokémon Company explains that Katy Perry will be the headline artist in a collaboration with Universal Music Group the company has been working on. The company says that other big names will be joining Perry for P25 Music.
You can’t have a party without a playlist! Right, @katyperry?
Hope you’re ready for some exciting musical surprises this year, Trainers!

There’s no real explanation of what P25 Music is but we can expect it to be some sort of musical extravaganza. Perry, who declared she was a fan of the franchise, considers it an honor to help celebrate this big milestone.
In addition to the P25 Music collaboration, The Pokémon Company has also detailed its other plans for the anniversary celebration. A new website was launched specifically for the anniversary and will be featuring various regions in the Pokémon world. Regions featured will change monthly and will kick off with the Galar region in March.
There will be other collaborations too, with well-known brands like Mattel, Funko, Levi’s, Build-a-Bear, and more. Special cards for The Pokémon Trading Card Game will also be released and there will be special anniversary-themed merchandise from the Pokémon Center. Last year, the company already started taking pre-orders for an exclusive 25th-anniversary diecast Poké ball.
