JBL, one of the audio industry’s big names, has rolled out a new service that lets customers customize their speakers or headphones. This can be done through their website using a simple online tool that will guide the customer through a series of steps in customizing their own speakers and/or headphones with the photo and colors of their choice.
For the time being, only a few select devices are available for customization. For speakers, you will have the option to choose from the Flip 5, Go 2 or the Clip 3, while your headphone options are limited to their Bluetooth variants namely, the Live 400BT, Live 500BT or the Live 650BT.
In regards to the speakers, two aspects of it will be customizable: the shell and the grille. With the shell, you will be able to pick from 4 different colors while the grille presents much more options.
Apart from just solid colors, you can add text, upload an image, or select from available patterns or artworks to place on the grille of the speaker. You can reposition, scale, or rotate the design elements as you please.
The headphones offer a similar range of customization options as customizable speakers. You start off with choosing the base color for the headphones. At the moment, there are 5 color options to choose from. You then move on to customizing the lower ear casing which will give you options to, again, upload a design, choose from available patterns and artwork, add text, or simply stick to a solid color. You’ll also have the option to change to the color of the JBL logo and can do two separate designs for the left and right lower ear casings. Lastly, you will have the option to add text to the upper ear casing. As with the lower ear casing, the left can be different from the right.
Customizing speakers or headphones make for great gifts, especially with Christmas just around the corner. JBL promises delivery of customized products within 5-7 days but the customization service is currently only available to customers in the US. Price ranges from $49.95 – $224.95 depending on the product. You can head here to start customizing your own JBL device.
