Google Play is getting a major overhaul. The tech giant is transforming its digital marketplace from a simple app store into a full-fledged entertainment hub.

Sam Bright, VP and General Manager of Google Play, recently spilled the beans on some new features that should make your app-hunting experience way more fun.

There’s a new way to Play

AI-Powered Discovery

Ever feel overwhelmed by user reviews? The Play Store will now use AI to summarize reviews and FAQs, giving you the lowdown on apps without the information overload. But that’s not all—the AI will even help you compare similar apps, so you can find the perfect fit without breaking a sweat.

For example, for all you comic book nerds out there (we see you), Google’s teamed up with Japanese publishers to create a dedicated comics space. It’s kind of like having your own personal comic shop right on your phone.

And if you’re a gamer looking for your next obsession, new multi-select interest filters will help you find games that match your style, whether you’re a hardcore streamer or just looking to kill time on your commute.

Your Apps, Your Way

Google’s new Collections feature is like having a personal assistant for your apps. It organizes content from your installed apps into categories like Shop, Watch, and Listen, making it easy to pick up where you left off or discover something new. You can even add it as a widget to your phone’s home screen for quick access.

And for all you privacy buffs out there, Google’s giving you more control over how your app data is used. The new “Personalization in Play” settings let you decide which apps can influence your Play Store experience.

Google Play Games on PC Adds Multi-Tasking

Google Play Games on PC is getting a multi-game feature, letting you start a mobile game on your commute, and then you can continue to play the game at home on your tablet or PC.

On top of that, PC users will be able to play multiple game titles at the same time. That means they can actively compete in one game, while keeping an eye on resources in another.

Google Play Pass Deal

Google Play Pass is stepping up its game (pun totally intended). For $5 a month, you’ll get access to over 1,000 games and apps without those pesky ads or in-app purchases.

They’re even throwing in some sweet deals for popular titles like Asphalt Legends Unite (available July 24th) and Call of Duty: Mobile (available August 1st). Plus, new subscribers in the U.S., UK, Australia, Japan, and Korea can score 80% off for the first three months.

More Rewards and Perks

Google Play Points is already huge, with over 220 million members. Now, they’re cranking it up to eleven with some seriously cool perks. Diamond, Platinum, and Gold members can win prizes like Pixel devices and Razer gaming gear through the new Super Weekly Prizes program. And if you’re heading to San Diego Comic-Con, Play Points members can score VIP access to Marvel Games events.

With these updates to Google Play, one thing’s for sure: Google Play is evolving, and it’s clear they’re aiming to be more than just a place to grab the latest apps.
