Israel-based company OrCam Technologies, the company behind assistive devices OrCam MyEye and the OrCam Hear, is now working with soccer legend, Lionel Messi as their newest celebrity brand ambassador.
The OrCam MyEye is a wireless, lightweight device that can be attached to eyewear such as glasses and aids the visually impaired by reading printed and digital text from any surface aloud and in real-time. Additionally, the OrCam MyEye also includes instant face recognition and can identify consumer products, colors, and money.
In partnership with Messi, OrCam aims to increase awareness of the challenges the visually impaired have to face and help them by providing accessible assistive technology.
Blind or visually impaired persons with inspiring stories will have an opportunity to meet Messi face-to-face in Barcelona and be gifted the OrCam MyEye and also become part of the OrCam Dream Team. Amnon Shashu, co-founder and co-CEO of OrCam says that the technology OrCam offers will allow individuals to “maximize their inherent potential”
The company had already initiated its first meeting before the pandemic limited travel. The first meeting consisted of 12 blind and visually impaired individuals from different countries across different walks of life. Of the 12 included were a 17-year old athlete from Iowa, Bailey, and a 36-year old mother from Chicago, Kalari, who has 3 kids and a husband who is also blind.
