In the battle for attracting budget-conscious diners, Denny’s just dropped a value bomb. While competitors tinker with limited-time deals and app-only discounts, the breakfast chain is taking a simpler approach with actual cheap food, all day, no strings attached.

America’s Diner recently rolled out a new set of value meals this week called Slammin’ Meal Deals, offering 10 menu items priced at $5.99 each and available all day. The options span breakfast, lunch, and dinner and include long-standing menu items rather than limited-time specialties.

The promotion features the 2-Egg Breakfast Slam, Breakfast Quesadilla, Two Meat Scrambler, Fish Sandwich with fries, Grand Slam Burrito, Everyday Value Slam, Super Slam, Chicken Tenders with fries, Classic Burger with fries, and a one-piece Country Fried Steak.

Denny’s also added several new items alongside the value menu, such as the Salted Caramel Banana Pancake Slam and the Salted Caramel Banana Stuffed French Toast Slam, as well as a new Mocha Cold Brew.

From Closures to Comeback Strategy

The rollout follows Denny’s completion of a restructuring plan that closed approximately 150 underperforming U.S. restaurants by the end of 2025. 88 of these locations were shuttered in 2024, with an additional 70 to 90 throughout last year.

The company previously said that the closures are the result of shifts in consumer spending and a decrease in footfall at older locations, adding that closing struggling restaurants would allow franchisees to improve cash flow and reinvest in existing stores.

It’s a squeeze being felt industrywide. Restaurant chains across the U.S. have leaned more heavily on lower-priced menu options as customers cut back on dining out amid higher food and household costs.

In recent weeks alone, Popeyes brought back its $5 menu through February, Subway launched $3.99 Protein Pockets, and Chick-fil-A rolled out birthday promotions with free food—signaling that value pricing has become the new competitive battleground for an industry trying to win back diners who’ve grown wary of inflated checks.
