Burger King Philippines recently launched a full lineup of Breakfast Bowls, expanding its morning menu with rice-based meals topped with either chunky chicken fillets or breakfast sausage, plus sauces more typical of lunch items.

It’s a breakfast lineup that begs the question: Why can’t our Burger King be that cool?

As a beloved staple in Filipino cuisine, rice is often enjoyed at breakfast in traditional “silog” dishes (garlic rice with egg and protein). So this menu addition cleverly reconciles between the fast food chain’s established daytime favorites and the demand for substantial morning fuel in an ever-changing, fast-paced market where customer loyalty is a driving force.

The new Breakfast Bowls include:

  • Creamy Parm Chunky Chicken Fillet with Egg
  • Smoky BBQ Chunky Chicken Fillet with Egg
  • Mushroom Gravy Chunky Chicken Fillet with Egg
  • Breakfast Sausage Bowl

This isn’t the first time BK Philippines has rolled out items that leave the rest of us envious—the chain has a history of bold, localized launches like the iconic 4-Cheese Whopper (a flame-grilled patty drowned in Swiss, mozzarella, and cheesy sauce), the over-the-top Bacon 4-Cheese variants, and the X-tra Long Chicken that hit the market in the early 2010s.

By bringing popular sauced chunky chicken flavors into the morning lineup—something competitors like Jollibee and McDonald’s have already done successfully—BK appears to be aiming to cater to local tastes with heartier, more familiar breakfast choices.

The new rice bowls, now available across BK Philippines, are assembled around fluffy steamed rice and come with both “stacked” and “sauced” options. The prices start at ₱99, which is roughly $1.70 for a solo bowl. The bowls can also be ordered via delivery platforms such as GrabFood or Foodpanda.

Ultimately, the launch serves as a reminder of how varied the Burger King global menu truly is. While US locations stick to serving sausage and egg biscuit, Filipino diners get to start their day with a hearty, cheesy Chicken Parm Bowl.
