Pokémon is turning 30, and adidas Originals is marking the milestone with a collection that brings some of the franchise’s most recognizable characters to streetwear. Early highlights include $280 varsity jackets inspired by Pikachu, Charizard, and Gengar, all now available at DICK’S Sporting Goods.
The Pokémon x adidas Originals 30th Anniversary collection will span apparel, sneakers, and accessories. A wider release is expected on September 22 and will include additional clothing and footwear.
Pikachu, Charizard, and Gengar Get Their Own Adidas Varsity Jackets
The varsity jackets are easily some of the most eye-catching pieces revealed from the collaboration so far. All three start with a black leather-look base before adding colors and graphics inspired by their respective Pokémon.

The Gengar jacket mixes purple and black with red Three Stripes along the sleeves. Charizard gets orange shoulders and sleeves, while Pikachu naturally brings plenty of yellow to the design, along with red striping.
Turn the jackets around, and the Pokémon influence becomes even harder to miss. Each jacket features a large chenille-style graphic of its featured character across the back, giving Pikachu, Charizard, and Gengar the starring role.
You also get Poké Ball patches on the arms, while adidas Trefoil branding sits on the chest. Smaller Pokémon branding and embroidered details complete the look.
This Is More Than a Three-Jacket Collection
The varsity jackets may be among the first pieces getting attention, but adidas and Pokémon have much more planned for the anniversary. Both brands are planning a broader collection spanning apparel, footwear, and accessories, giving fans options beyond character jackets.

This should make the collaboration interesting for people who want something more subtle as well as collectors looking for pieces that put Pokémon front and center. Additional clothing and the accompanying sneaker lineup are expected as part of the wider rollout on September 22.
Pokémon Is Turning 30 in Style
Pokémon debuted in Japan in 1996, so 2026 marks three decades since players first started catching and battling the pocket monsters. Since then, the franchise has grown far beyond the original games, expanding into trading cards, movies, TV shows, toys, and countless collaborations.
The adidas Originals partnership taps into that nostalgia while giving familiar characters a streetwear spin. Choosing Pikachu is hardly surprising, but putting Charizard and Gengar alongside it gives the early lineup something for fans whose favorite Pokémon isn’t the franchise mascot.
