Stewie Griffin, the fan-favorite genius toddler from Family Guy, known for his British accent, evil inventions, and schemes for world domination, is about to get his own series.
Capitalizing on the character’s enduring popularity, Fox has ordered two seasons of an animated show called “Stewie,” a spinoff set in the Family Guy universe. The project comes from Seth MacFarlane and the same production group behind the long-running series.
The show isn’t arriving immediately. Fox says it’s aiming for the 2027–2028 television season. After broadcast, new episodes will stream on Hulu. Disney+ will carry the show outside the United States.
Mayhem and Multiverses
Plot details are fairly simple. The story starts after Stewie gets kicked out of his preschool. The replacement school isn’t much better. Teachers run odd experiments, and one classmate, reportedly, is a 75-year-old turtle.
The adventures kick in from there. Stewie’s inventions drive most of the chaos. Time travel, strange devices, trips far outside the classroom, the works. Normal school days don’t stay normal for long.
MacFarlane will continue voicing the character. He’s also attached as an executive producer through Fuzzy Door. Kara Vallow will executive produce as well. Kirker Butler, a longtime MacFarlane collaborator, is co-creating the show and will run the writers’ room.
Fox has tried a Family Guy spinoff before with The Cleveland Show, which aired from 2009 through 2013. Meanwhile, the original series is as indomitable as ever. Family Guy recently started its 24th season and crossed 450 episodes, one of the longest runs for an animated comedy on television.
The entire catalog currently streams on Hulu in the U.S., with Disney+ carrying the show in many other regions.
