Marvel’s Wolverine is finally sharpening his claws for his long-awaited PS5 adventure. You can now preorder the game for $70 at Target, giving you a chance to lock in a copy ahead of its September 15 release.

Developed by Insomniac Games, the studio behind the hugely popular Spider-Man series, this new Wolverine puts Logan in an original story filled with brutal combat, familiar mutants, and a globe-spanning fight for survival. And judging by the details revealed so far, this won’t simply be Spider-Man with claws.

Wolverine Isn’t Holding Back

Insomniac is leaning into the character’s more aggressive side for combat. Wolverine can unleash fast attacks with his adamantium claws while building momentum to gain Rage and overpower enemies.

You’ll also be able to swap techniques and adaptations to change how Logan approaches fights. This means you’ll have options for stalking and ambushing enemies or simply charging into a fight and letting Wolverine’s claws do the talking.

The enemy lineup includes Bolivar Trask’s Reavers alongside recognizable Marvel villains such as Omega Red, giving you plenty of formidable opponents to tear through.

An Original Wolverine Story

Marvel’s Wolverine isn’t adapting one particular movie or comic book storyline. Instead, Insomniac and Marvel Games have created an original story centered around Logan’s past and the growing threat facing mutants.

Three years after leaving Team X, Logan is pulled back into the fight as Bolivar Trask begins kidnapping mutants as part of his campaign driven by human superiority. Wolverine eventually reunites with other mutants as he tries to stop Trask and uncover more about his own forgotten past.

Logan Is Going Around the World

Logan won’t spend the entire game fighting in one city. His journey takes him across several locations around the world, giving you an opportunity to explore different environments.

Confirmed locations include the frozen Canadian wilderness, the streets of Tokyo, and different districts of the fictional Marvel island nation of Madripoor. Each serves as a backdrop for the game’s combat and large-scale action sequences as Wolverine fights to protect mutantkind.

Preordering Comes with Some Extras

Players who preorder now can get a handful of bonuses to use when the game arrives. These include an early unlock for Wolverine’s Classic Brown suit, Reflective Claws, one Technique Point, and four PlayStation avatars.

The Classic Brown suit should be particularly familiar to longtime comic book fans and give players another way to customize Logan’s appearance early in the adventure.

Wolverine Arrives This September

Marvel’s Wolverine has plenty to live up to after Insomniac’s success with its Spider-Man games, but the studio appears to be giving Logan an adventure that fits his very different personality and fighting style.

 $70 at Target

The game is now available to preorder for $70 at Target, with its PS5 release scheduled for September 15. Target says orders will begin shipping September 16, so anyone ordering a physical copy should keep that timing in mind when deciding where to preorder.
