Samsung is officially pushing foldables into new territory. The company has opened sales for the Galaxy Z TriFold, a next-generation foldable phone that unfolds into a tablet-sized screen and carries a $2,899 price tag.

Positioned as a true phone-tablet hybrid, the Galaxy Z TriFold goes beyond the brand’s book-style foldables by introducing a two-hinge, three-panel design. It’s aimed at users who want a single device that can comfortably handle everyday phone tasks and more demanding, tablet-style work.

The Galaxy Z TriFold’s biggest selling point is its expansive 10-inch inner display when fully unfolded. Compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the inner screen on the Trifold is noticeably larger, giving it a more tablet-like feel for watching videos, multitasking, and working on documents.

Despite its size, Samsung has managed to keep the device impressively thin. When fully open, it measures just 3.9mm at its thinnest point, while folded shut, it comes in at 12.9mm. The phone uses two titanium hinges designed for long-term use, with the brand rating them for up to 200,000 folds.

Built for Productivity, Not Just Flexing

Rather than focusing purely on thinness, the Galaxy Z TriFold is designed around practicality. A 6.5-inch cover display lets it function like a regular smartphone when closed, making it easy to check messages, reply to emails, or handle quick tasks without unfolding the device.

Open it up, and the large inner screen gives you space to run up to three apps at once. Samsung’s DeX mode also feels more at home here, effectively turning the phone into a compact workstation when connected to a keyboard or external display.

Flagship Power and Storage

Inside, the Galaxy Z TriFold runs on a customized Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, the same processor found in Samsung’s recent flagship Galaxy S series. The chip is paired with a starting storage option of 512GB, reflecting the phone’s premium positioning and focus on power users.

Battery capacity is another area where the TriFold separates itself from the company’s other foldables. It packs a 5,600 mAh battery, which is larger than the one in the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Charging speeds top out at 45 watts, which is standard for Samsung phones, and the device supports USB-C charging.

The Galaxy Z TriFold features a triple rear camera system comprising a 200-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultrawide, and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens. It also includes dual 10-megapixel selfie cameras to support video calls and selfies in different folding positions. Samsung is also keeping things simple with color options, offering the device in a single finish called Crafted Black.

At $2,899, the Galaxy Z TriFold is clearly not meant for everyone. Instead, it’s aimed at early adopters and productivity-focused users who want one device to replace both a phone and a tablet. By leaning into utility, multitasking, and screen size, Samsung is carving out a new niche beyond traditional foldables.
