Fruity Pebbles has spent decades as the most chaotic thing in the cereal aisle, in the best way. Now it’s dipping back into its own history and pulling out a flavor that ’90s kids remember a little too well – cinnamon.
To that effect, Post has officially announced Cinnamon Pebbles, a new cereal that’s really not new at all, and this time, it isn’t just passing through.
Cinnamon Pebbles keeps the same tiny, crispy flake format people already know, but trades the fruity profile for something warmer. According to Post, the cereal features flakes “baked with a cinnamon flavor and notes of vanilla,” so each bowl leans more cozy in taste than tropical.
Unlike so many themed flavors that show up for a season and vanish, Cinnamon Pebbles is being added to Post’s permanent lineup and not being treated as a limited-time stunt.
And it’s not just for milk-and-bowl duty. The announcement calls out using the cereal: 1. to “put a cinnamon spin on homemade cereal treats,” 2. or as a finishing touch for Churro Cheesecake Bites.
Basically, it’s being positioned as pantry candy, something you eat straight, bake with, or throw on top of desserts when you want crunch and cinnamon without reaching for a spice jar.
The company also re-released Cinnamon Pebbles back in 2017, but that was a temporary run that didn’t.
However Post isn’t saying whether this new iteration is a straight return or a tweak.
According to the announcement, the cereal will be “available at select retailers nationwide beginning in January.”
It’s launching in three sizes: 2-ounce single-serve cup, and 11-ounce box and a 19.5-ounce family size box
So whether someone wants a quick trial run or is already planning cereal bars and cinnamon-based snack mixes, there’s going to be a format for it.
