In 1971, McDonald’s opened the doors to McDonaldland—a whimsical world where Apple Pie Trees grew, Hamburgers sprouted in patches, and quirky characters like Ronald McDonald and Grimace quickly became cultural icons. For more than two decades, McDonaldland came to life through commercials, games, and merchandise, building a loyal fanbase along the way. Now, after years out of the spotlight, the beloved gang is reuniting for a fresh adventure—inviting fans old and new to explore the magic once again through the all-new McDonaldland Meal.
At the heart of the limited-time offering is the Mt. McDonaldland Shake, a mysterious treat inspired by the fictional volcano that towers over McDonaldland. With vibrant blue “lava” and swirls of pink “clouds,” the shake adds a touch of mystery—its flavor kept under wraps, waiting to be discovered by those curious enough to try it.
Alongside the shake, the McDonaldland Meal includes your choice of a Quarter Pounder with Cheese or 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, a side of fries, and a collectible tin unlike anything McDonald’s has released before. Each tin features a mix of stickers, postcards, and surprises themed around one of six classic McDonaldland characters: Ronald McDonald, Grimace, Birdie the Early Bird, the Hamburglar, Mayor McCheese, and the Fry Kids.
“Over the past few years we’ve seen how fans flock to our characters, everyone from Grimace to the Hamburglar. But many, especially the new generation, don’t know that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There’s an entire magical world of McDonaldland filled with characters, places and lore,” said Jennifer “JJ” Healan, McDonald’s VP, U.S. Marketing, Brand, Content & Culture. “And so, for the first time in decades we are taking fans on a trip to McDonaldland with an immersive experience that taps into the past to create the future. It’s a chance for us to give fans a new, modern way to experience this magical world.”
McDonald’s unveils McDonaldland merch collabs with PacSun and Away
The McDonaldland Meal will only be available for a limited time this summer—but the characters won’t be staying inside the Happy Meal box. Fans can dive deeper into the world of McDonaldland at McDonaldland.com, where they’ll find character lore, behind-the-scenes content, and a new lineup of exclusive merch created in collaboration with PacSun and Away.
Starting August 12, PacSun will launch a vibrant collection of limited-edition sweat sets and graphic tees, designed to be just as bold and colorful as McDonaldland itself. Then, on August 18, Away joins the adventure with complimentary luggage tags and bag charms—available at Away retail locations with any purchase, while supplies last.
