Fans of classic soda flavors, rejoice—Diet Cherry Coke is back.

Coca-Cola has officially brought back one of its most iconic 1980s flavors, Diet Cherry Coke, and it’s hitting shelves with a vintage makeover. While the company continues to evolve with newer health-conscious beverages, this move taps directly into nostalgia, and it’s getting a warm welcome from longtime fans.

Originally launched in the mid-1980s, Diet Cherry Coke was Coca-Cola’s first flavor spinoff of Diet Coke. Known for its crisp cherry finish and zero-calorie profile, it quickly earned a devoted following. But over the years, the flavor slowly disappeared from store shelves, replaced by rotating limited editions and experiments like Ginger Lime and Twisted Mango.

Now, after years of absence, Coca-Cola is bringing it back for a limited run. And it’s not just the flavor—the packaging is getting a retro treatment, nodding to the soda’s original look. According to popular Instagram account @Snackolator, the relaunch isn’t tied to any one retailer, meaning fans nationwide should be able to find it in grocery and convenience stores soon.

“I am way too excited for this one,” the account posted. “It’s been years since the OG Diet Cherry Coke has been out, so I’m really looking forward to getting it again.”

Despite Coca-Cola’s continued push toward Coke Zero Sugar in recent years, Diet Coke remains a powerhouse. In 2024, it ranked as the ninth most valuable soft drink brand globally, indicating that Diet Coke continues to stand strong in the cola hierarchy.

There’s no word yet on how long Diet Cherry Coke will be around, but fans hoping to stock up might want to do so quickly. With retro packaging, the nostalgia appeal, and the same cherry-forward taste that made it a hit, this comeback is sweet in more ways than one.
