One Day at a Time

Date canceled: March 2019

One Day at a Time, the critically acclaimed reboot of the Norman Lear comedy series of the same name, was canceled by Netflix after three seasons. In a statement, Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos mentioned that “it’s disappointing that more viewers didn’t discover One Day at a Time” but believes “the series will stand the test of time.” But in addition to its underwhelming viewership, the fact that the One Day at a Time was owned by Sony Pictures Television also played a part in the cancellation of the series. Since Netflix didn’t own One Day at a Time, it had to pay a licensing fee to run the series. Fortunately for fans, three months after the show’s cancellation at Netflix, Pop revived the series for a 14-episode season 4. The first half of the season premiered in March 2020, while the other half is yet to be released.
